Prepping for your interview

Interview coming up? Here's what to know

Before we begin, take a breath. We invited you for a reason - we saw something in your application that stood out. We're on your side here. We want you to do well because we need talented, driven people to join us.

The logistics

Remote setup: join the meeting from your laptop 10 minutes early to test your mic and camera. A stable internet connection is essential.

Your space: we don't need a professional studio - your home office, living room, or bedroom is fine. Just ensure you're in a quiet spot where we can see your face and you won't be interrupted.

Dress code: wear whatever makes you feel confident and comfortable. Jeans and a t-shirt are fine - we care about what you do, not what you wear.

Keep it natural: we're looking for a real conversation. You can have some notes prepared, but please don't read straight from a script. We want to hear your thoughts directly from you.

Top tips to nail your interview

  • 1. Research Booksy

Read our About Booksy section, check out our socials, and explore our app. Understand what we do, who we serve, and why it matters.

  • 2. Get to know your interviewers

Look them up on LinkedIn to see their background and role at Booksy. This helps you understand who you'll be talking to and shows you've done your homework.

  • 3. Review the role

Re-read the job description so you know exactly what we're looking for and can speak directly to how your experience aligns.

  • 4. Master Your 1-Minute intro

Prepare a short, well-structured introduction about yourself:

The "Who": Tell us where you are in your professional path. Are you early in your career? Transitioning from another industry? Building on years of experience?

The "What": What are you currently building, learning, or obsessed with? What gets you excited about your work?

The "Why": Why is Booksy right for you? Why this specific role? What about our mission or product resonates with you?

  • 5. Practice your stories

Rehearse your introduction and some STAR method examples. If the role requires English, practice in English.

When answering behavioral or case-based questions, use the STAR Method to keep your story clear and impactful:

    • Situation: Set the context. What was happening?
    • Task: What was your responsibility or goal?
    • Action: What did you do? Be specific about your role.
    • Result: What was the outcome? Quantify it if possible.

    Example:
"In my last role (Situation), I was tasked with reducing customer churn (Task). I analyzed feedback data, identified the top pain points, and implemented a new onboarding flow (Action). As a result, churn dropped by 15% in three months (Result)."

Make sure you prepare 3-5 STAR stories that demonstrate key skills for the role (e.g., problem-solving, ownership, collaboration, adaptability).

  • 6. Prep your questions for us

If you have any burning questions about the role, the team, or Booksy, this is the perfect time to get answers. Thoughtful questions show you're serious about the opportunity. Interviews are a two-way street. Use this time to figure out if Booksy is the right fit for you, too.

  • 7. How to stand out

Showcase your achievements: be ready to talk about something you built, managed, or solved from scratch - even if it was a side project, a volunteer effort, or something you did "just for fun."

Share your passion: we love talking about the "why" behind great products, tools, or solutions. Be ready to discuss a product you admire, a market trend you've been following, or a problem you're excited to solve.

  • 9. Be yourself

We're not looking for scripted answers or corporate speak. We want to see the real you - how you think, how you work, and how you'd fit into our team.

  • 10. Follow up

If you think of something you forgot to mention or want to clarify something, feel free to send a follow-up email to your recruiter.

  • 11. Relax

We know interviews can be stressful. Take a breath. We're rooting for you.

Prepping for the skills & task assessment

Depending on the role, you may be asked to complete a practical task, present a case study, or solve a technical challenge. This is your chance to demonstrate your skills in action.

These are always hypothetical scenarios or problems we've already solved internally - we'll never use your work commercially. This is purely about seeing how you think, approach problems, and apply your skills.

If it's a presentation or case study, we'll start with introductions and a few experience-based questions. Then, you'll walk us through your solution, your logic, and your recommendations.

What we're looking for:

  • How you structured your thinking
  • How you approached the problem
  • How you communicate your ideas
  • How you handle questions and feedback

How to prepare:

  • Read the instructions carefully and follow them.
  • Don't overthink it - we're looking for clarity, logic, and creativity, not perfection.
  • Practice presenting your solution out loud (if it's a presentation).
  • Be ready to explain your thought process and defend your decisions.
  • Prepare questions for the team.
