Dario Chavez - Global Campaign Manager

This Barber's Week, we're celebrating the professionals who shape communities one cut at a time – and the Booksy team members who champion their success.

When Dario Chavez first stepped into the beauty industry over five years ago, he thought he understood marketing. He was handling affiliate partnerships and events for a permanent makeup company, creating campaigns and driving engagement. But something felt missing.

"To be a better marketer, I wanted to understand things from the provider's perspective"

Dario explains. So he did what many marketers never do - he immersed himself in their work by training in permanent makeup and brows, spending weekends offering services while maintaining his day job.

That hands-on experience changed everything.

From Beauty to Barbering

Today, as Booksy's Global Campaign  Manager, Dario brings that provider-first mindset to the barbering community. But moving from the beauty world to barbering opened his eyes to something he hadn't expected.

"Barbers are not only artists but also leaders in their communities," he says. "They create culture, confidence, and connection in ways that go far beyond the haircut."

This realization drives how Dario approaches his work at Booksy. His focus isn't just on creating events - it's about amplifying voices and celebrating stories that don't always get the spotlight they deserve.

Creating Space for Stories That Matter

The impact of this approach became clear during BarberCon Dallas, where Dario helped create a podcast experience with United Barbers Club. The event gave Booksy's diverse group of barber brand ambassadors a platform to share their stories with a wider audience.

"Being able to provide that space, amplify their voices, and share their stories with the wider community made me realize the real impact of the work we do," Dario reflects.

But the impact goes deeper than events and platforms. Dario has witnessed how barbers shape the next generation, mentoring young professionals at local barber academies and creating opportunities where none existed before.

Building More Than Businesses

One story particularly stands out to Dario – a barber who opened her own shop after struggling to find safe and inclusive places to work early in her career. She didn't just create a business; she created a space for her team and every client who walked through her doors.

"It showed me how barbers build more than businesses, they build community," Dario says.

This understanding of barbering as community building informs everything Dario does at Booksy. It's why his events focus on giving visibility to communities whose stories aren't always heard. It's why amplifying diverse voices isn't just good marketing - it's essential to supporting an industry that thrives on entrepreneurship, creativity, and uniqueness.

The Provider Perspective

Dario's journey from corporate marketing to hands-on service provision to industry advocate illustrates something crucial: understanding your audience means more than demographics and data points. It means recognizing that barbers bring joy and confidence to their clients, mentor the next generation, and create spaces where community happens.

"Beauty pros don't just offer services - they bring joy and confidence," Dario explains. "Booksy gave me the chance to connect my skills with that purpose."

As we celebrate Barber's Week, Dario's story reminds us that the best way to support any community is to truly understand it - not from the outside looking in, but from the chair, with scissors in hand, building connections one conversation at a time.
